By accessing and using Waka Books, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to these Terms of Service, please do not use our service.
Waka Books provides a comprehensive book marketplace platform offering book sales, rentals, presales, audio books, community features, events, and lottery services. We facilitate connections between readers, authors, collectors, and book enthusiasts across Ethiopia.
3.1 You must create an account to use certain features of our service.
3.2 You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
3.3 You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
3.4 You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
You agree not to:
5.1 Users are responsible for the accuracy of all content including book listings, rental offers, presales, events, and posts.
5.2 Book condition, availability, and pricing must be accurately described.
5.3 Presale creators must fulfill their commitments to backers.
5.4 Rental providers must maintain book condition and availability as advertised.
5.5 We reserve the right to remove any content that violates our terms.
5.6 Listings expire after 90 days and must be renewed.
6.1 Regular book sales occur directly between buyers and sellers.
6.2 For presales and rentals, we facilitate secure payment processing.
6.3 Users must honor their commitments in all transaction types.
6.4 Rental terms must be clearly specified and followed by both parties.
6.5 Presale funds are held until delivery milestones are met.
6.6 We encourage safe, public meeting locations for in-person exchanges.
6.7 Dispute resolution services are available for platform-facilitated transactions.
6.8 Reviewer rewards are wallet credits under Section 7. They are not wages, employment, or a guaranteed income.
Waka Books may reward high-quality community book reviews. This section is the platform policy for that program on the website and the Waka Books mobile app.
7.1 Eligibility. Anyone with an account may write reviews. Monetization (the right to earn) requires at least 100 unique platform followers and at least one approved community book review. Unlock is checked when followers or approvals change. Reaching the threshold does not pay for activity that happened before unlock.
7.2 When counting starts. Unique views, likes, and unique commenters are recorded for payment only after a reviewer is monetized. Social likes and comments still appear on reviews before that; they simply do not earn. A reviewer’s own views, likes, and comments never earn. Hidden or unapproved reviews do not earn.
7.3 How each review is paid. Payment is calculated per individual review (like a video on YouTube), not as an average of all your reviews. The current tight-month rates are:
7.4 Caps and settlement. A single review cannot earn more than 300 ETB in one calendar month. Other reviews you wrote still earn on their own numbers. Estimated earnings for the current month are shown in Reviewer Studio. Closed months are credited to your Waka Books wallet when held earnings reach 50 ETB. Credits appear as reviewer earnings and may be used on the platform according to existing wallet rules.
7.5 Integrity. Fake followers, self-promotion rings, bots, inflated refreshes, copy-paste reviews, or undisclosed paid praise may forfeit earnings, reverse credits, and remove monetization. We may treat invalid traffic as zero. Waka Books may change rates, caps, thresholds, or pause the program with notice in Reviewer Studio or these Terms.
7.6 Nature of the reward. Reviewer earnings are a discretionary platform reward, not a salary, employment contract, or sale of digital goods through an app store. Authors may not buy a guaranteed rating. Deal/trust ratings after a print-book meetup are reputation only and are not part of this program.
8.1 Basic platform use is free with optional membership plans available.
8.2 We may charge fees for premium features, payment processing, or enhanced services.
8.3 Membership benefits include unlimited listings, priority support, and exclusive features.
8.4 Fee changes will be communicated with appropriate advance notice.
9.1 You retain ownership of content you post including listings, posts, reviews, and event information.
9.2 By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, modify, and display that content.
9.3 Community features like posts, events, and reviews are subject to our community guidelines.
9.4 Lottery participation is free and governed by specific lottery terms.
9.5 Audio book uploads must comply with copyright laws and our content policies.

All content on Waka Books, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of Waka Books or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
12.1 Waka Books is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
12.2 We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content.
12.3 We are not responsible for any damages resulting from your use of the service.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Waka Books shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.
14.1 We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violations of these terms.
14.2 You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us.
14.3 Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.
Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved through good faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be resolved in accordance with Ethiopian law.
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ethiopia.
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by email or through the platform. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
